Aluma© works by using radiofrequency energy to warm the dermis or deeper layer of the skin. This warming action leads to the destruction of old collagen. When new collagen is reformed, the skin is tightened resulting in less wrinkling and sagging skin. This process takes at least 3 months after your last treatment. Therefore, no significant tightening occurs until at least 3 months after your last treatment! Aluma© uses a small vacuum to pull the skin towards the radiofrequency electrodes – this allows more dermis to be exposed to the warming action with less epidermal or outer skin layer exposure.

Possible side effects and risks include pain, bruising, swelling, redness, scarring, blistering, hypo- and hyper-pigmentation being the primary possible risks.
